  • Non-locking, front access, galvanized steel. Box weighs 11.5 lb empty.

01 / START WITH THE POST

A little character.
Four ways to welcome.

Three self-supporting wood posts.
Steel needs a separate 4 × 4 support.

Supplier catalog observations checked October 30 for ZIP 33616. Store-level pickup stock was not returned; verify checkout, delivery and local availability before ordering. The two treated wood posts list 15 lb, cedar 30 lb and RELIABILT steel 150 lb. Allow for the mailbox, mounting parts, accessories and contents.

02 / CHOOSE THE MAILBOX

Give it your own look.

Individual boxes, priced separately from the post.
Locking MailSafe +$150 on wood posts. Stanley XL on cedar only.

Budget option: Parsons black polypropylene is $18.98 box only, $11 less than the standard Elite. At unchanged proposed package prices, that improves contribution by about $11.83 per box including the supply-tax reserve. It uses match code A; mounting hardware and address numbers remain covered by the package budget.

Natural wood finish, a compatible mounting board, standard address numbers, water-free post foam, exterior fasteners, ordinary removal, disposal and local route travel.

No concrete or purchased gravel in this model. Existing holes still need inspection; foam quantity and the post maker’s accepted setting method must be confirmed. Photos show separate supplier products, not an assembled installation.

THE WHOLE MENU

Proposed installed price / contribution.

Matrix follows the installer, marketing and foam inputs above. Natural wood or factory black finish. Single-box estimates. Mounting fit and combined loads need checking on a sample before the menu becomes a firm offer. We restrict the 11.5 lb Stanley to the 30 lb cedar post to leave more capacity for parts and deliveries.

PLMB06AM plastic mounting board: $10.94 ↗ · A/B/C/D match-code compatibility is listed; verify the exact box holes and wood-arm attachment. The $5 fastener allowance is for extras and substitutions beyond included board hardware. Isolate any incompatible metal from treated wood; use treatment-compatible fasteners.

Assembly instructions ↗

The manufacturer estimates 20 minutes for assembly only. Removal, digging, setting, mounting boxes, numbers, travel and cleanup add time. The diagram shows a separate 50-inch 4×4 support, with 24 inches buried and 26 above ground; verify the final placement and actual product instructions.

Single vs. shared-post economics.

Single-box configuration is selectable above. Two-box figures below are a research estimate for replacing an existing approved shared assembly with two matching boxes. They are not an automatic two-household booking or permission to relocate delivery points.

With Elite black standard boxOne mailboxTwo mailboxes

Checked October 30 for ZIP 33616; local pickup stock not confirmed. Core price is the existing dated $10.58 planning allowance for one full 8 ft treated 4×4, not a newly verified quote. Two boxes use one shared post and one foam allowance, but two address-number allocations. No separate mounting-board purchase is budgeted because two brackets are included. Confirm exact mailbox-hole fit. Extra-large and locking box fit is not established.

The manual recommends concrete in loose soil. We retain the requested water-free foam budget, with no purchased gravel; acceptance of that setting method and actual hole volume must be confirmed before a firm installation offer. A shared replacement needs the appropriate delivery location and household approvals.

PAINTING / UNDER REVIEW

Does the color
earn its keep?

Explore the extra work and margin.
Painting is not a bookable add-on.

Start natural. Test one batch.

Our recommendation is to launch the wood tier unpainted. A painted post can work at the right price, especially when several dry posts share one color. A separate trip and five cans of slow-moving paint can quickly eat the return.

For a single post, begin with a brush and mini roller. Spraying still needs preparation, masking, cleanup and more material. Trial airless spraying only when the batch size and equipment already justify it; ordinary aerosol cans are not the default coating plan.

ACTIVE LABOR / PLANNING RANGE45–90 min

Per post for a small batch or one-off brush finish, including prep and cleanup. Exact time needs a trial.

ELAPSED TIME IS DIFFERENTDry wood first. Then allow coating time.

Pressure-treated wood may need weeks or longer before coating. Measure moisture and follow the coating label; do not promise a fixed wait from purchase or installation.

FIVE COLORS TO EXPLORE

Four ways to do the extra work.

These are per-post operating estimates, not painter quotes. Batch means three dry posts, one color, finished before installation. Materials include allocated coating, primer where needed, abrasives, masking and cleanup supplies.

*At $35/hour, 7.5% supply-tax reserve and 3% incremental payment fee. Includes handling/rework reserves and the stated travel allowance. There is no extra $0.30 charge when bundled into the original payment. Equipment purchases, whole-can startup cash, idle time and fixed overhead are excluded.

ADDITIONAL VARIABLE COST
RETAINED BEFORE FIXED OVERHEAD

Painting estimates do not change the natural-wood package price or the request preview. Cedar stays unpainted.

01 / BEFORE PAINT

Condition & measure.

Keep treated posts dry, ventilated and out of standing water. Check moisture at several points. Sherwin-Williams guidance uses 15% moisture or less; the selected coating’s instructions control readiness.

Wood moisture guidance ↗
02 / IN THE SHOP

Prep, coat, wait.

Clean, address roughness and use the chosen exterior coating system, including primer where required. As an example, Duration Exterior Satin lists a four-hour recoat at 45°F+ and 50% relative humidity. Humidity, film thickness and temperature change that time.

Example coating data sheet ↗
03 / BEFORE INSTALL

Handle without damage.

Budget one to two shop days after the wood is ready, as a scheduling estimate, with longer if the system or weather needs it. Dry-to-touch is not a full cure. Coating and handling instructions determine safe transport. Avoid coating the buried section unless its system specifically permits it.

Why treated wood readiness varies ↗

The decision to test.

Try one three-post, same-color brush/roller batch. Record the real minutes, paint used, days in storage and touch-ups after transport. Compare $99 for a proven batch with $149 for a single shop-finished post, or about $199 if a separate visit is needed. These are prices to test, not published service commitments.

Five colors increase cash tied up in cans and unused stock. The table allocates only paint consumed. Before offering colors, price whole cans in the selected bases, a moisture meter, racks, tools and any spray equipment. Restrict launch colors if order volume is low.

Keep the research connected.
